I finally fixed this on my AX8 with 32-bit Vista Look for the XP drivers for the Asus NX1101 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter at ASUS's website.. Lovin Vista 64 with the AX8 - I can highly recommend, once you get it all sorted out.. Yep, Found the same prob with my AX8 (Damn IC plus and I guess abit) - anyway, straight down to my component shop and bought a cheap plug and play IEEE compliant 10/100 adapter for Eur15, plugged it into the 32bit PCI slot, and Vista didn't even inform me of new hardware, just turned it on and plugged me into the net!!!!
